About Cindy
Cindy Lehew-Nehrbass is a multi-genre writer, choreographer, teacher, volunteer special needs advocate, and her church newsletter editor. She lives with her family in the Twin Cities and is the wife of a Lutheran pastor, and a mother of two young adults, one with special needs.
She holds a Bachelor's in Dance Performance and Choreography, a Master Track Certificate in Creative Non-Fiction from the Loft Literary Center, and a certificate in Mind-Body Nutrition Coaching. She is also currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing at PLU's Rainier Writing Workshop. Although her essays can be found in many book anthologies, publications, and blogs, she identifies first as a poet having carved her very first words into her childhood desk, a haiku about her love of trees.
My Story
I came into this world as a sensitive soul. When life tossed me about, I first fumbled, then rallied, then searched for the meaning and the potential healing in it all. Important nuggets I discovered along the way? Creativity. Movement. Communication. Expression. Understanding. Connection. Faith.
I write, dance, and choreograph because it’s how I interpret this often chaotic world. I teach and coach to help others uncover their gifts and find healing and fulfillment. I volunteer as an advocate for special needs families because I live that journey with my daughter, every day. I give care and hold faith, through the joy and the pathos of it all, because that’s my most authentic me.
